In the line of duty, this Deputy Sheriff found himself involved in a deadly shooting. He shares the details of the fateful call for service, the events leading up to the shooting, and the subsequent investigation. While he survived the incident, his life took a distressing turn as the traumatic aftermath, combined with the toll of other law enforcement experiences, began to erode his well-being. The traumatic effects of the incident, along with the cumulative stress from his 15-year career as a deputy sheriff, led to a spiral of challenges. Regan experienced alcohol abuse, depression, and other symptoms of post-traumatic stress, which ultimately resulted in the end of his decorated law enforcement career.

Regan commenced his law enforcement journey by graduating at the top of his class in the Police Academy in 2000. He swiftly joined the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office in October of the same year, serving the community he had grown up in. Regan initially worked as a Road Deputy, progressing to various roles within the agency, including Field Training Officer, Corporal, General Crimes Agent, K-9 Deputy/Handler, and Career Development Field Agent. His commitment to professional growth saw him attending numerous accredited furthering education classes, covering topics such as Line Supervision, Stress Management Techniques, Homicide Investigations, Drug Investigations, and Leadership. Throughout his distinguished 15-year career, Regan earned numerous accolades and awards, including Deputy of the Month Awards, Merit Bars, Commendable Service Awards, and the Medal of Valor in 2010.

Today, Regan is dedicated to earning a degree in Psychology and continuing his mission to support first responders and their mental well-being. As the President and Co-founder of T-6 Advanced Training and Career Development Group, he leverages his training, education, and first-hand experiences to improve the lives of first responders and their families.
