Additionally, Lindsey discusses the book she authored about suicide and her mission to support others facing similar challenges. Police Sergeant Death By Suicide Wife Tells The Story.

Lindsey Louise Doolittle is not only an accomplished art educator but also a children's author and an artist contributing to the Faces After Suicide exhibition. Her late husband, Sgt. Brett Doolittle of the Kansas City, Kansas police department, succumbed to suicide in 2015. Suicide is a unique and complex issue, and there is a growing concern surrounding the tendency of some police departments to blame, shun, or deny support to the widows of officers who have taken their own lives. Lindsey emphasizes the importance of providing support to the families, regardless of the circumstances of an officer's passing. Officer suicides outnumber line-of-duty deaths each year, yet this crisis often goes unaddressed. Her films are designed to offer solace to those who have lost loved ones to suicide and promote a forward-thinking approach to raising awareness. Lindsey reflects on her experience, expressing her disappointment in her "family in blue" for not being there when she needed them the most. Even on the night she discovered her late husband's lifeless body at home and called his police department for help, the responding officers maintained their distance. She vividly recalls being on her hands and knees, desperately calling for assistance while her husband's colleagues remained aloof. Every attempt she made to contact her late husband's chief was met with silence. In a poignant and painful detail, Lindsey reveals that his chief didn't even wear his uniform to her husband's funeral. She further laments that not a single officer reached out to her without her taking the initiative. Police Sergeant Death By Suicide Wife Tells The Story.
