S5E46: Ambushed and shot in Mexico. Federal Agent Shot Many Times And His Partner Was Killed By A Cartel.

We were on the road in one of the most notoriously violent sections of Mexico when we were run off the road and ambushed. Federal Agent Shot Multiple Times And His Partner Was Killed In An Ambush By The Zeta Cartel.

Victor Avila is our guest. He is a retired US Federal Agent and author of the book Agent Under Fire. Victor tells the horrific story of the incident when he and his partner, Federal US I.C.E. Agent Jaime Zapata where ambushed and shot on a Mexican road by members of the Zeta Cartel. During the violent attack they were both shot multiple times and Jaime Zapata was killed. Victor tells the traumatic story of the attack, having to wait for almost 40 minutes before aid responded. The terrifying security concerns in the Mexican hospital and worst of all the treatment he, and his family received from US Federal Agencies when he returned and was trying to recover from the injuries. Victor Avila wrote a book about the attack and treatment after entitled "Agent Under Fire - A Murder And A Manifesto".
