John J. “Jay” Wiley is a highly decorated retired Baltimore Police Sergeant who devoted his career to law enforcement until an act of violence left him seriously injured. After sustaining injuries that required three surgeries and the placement of two steel plates in his right hand, Jay was medically retired at the age of 33. To this day, his right wrist and thumb remain fused, a lasting reminder of his sacrifice.
Following his retirement, Jay moved from Maryland to South Florida, seeking relief from the discomfort that cold temperatures brought to his injured hand. It was there that his passion for audio programming began. In 1999, long before the podcast boom, Jay and a group of friends launched an “Audio-Blog,” an early version of what podcasts would become.
That interest evolved into a brokered radio show in Palm Beach County and ultimately led Jay to formal broadcasting training at the Connecticut School of Broadcasting. From music radio stints in Florida, Pennsylvania, and Maryland, Jay built a foundation that culminated in the launch of The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show in 2017. Today, the show is nationally syndicated and ranks among the top law enforcement podcasts, offering authentic conversations about policing, trauma, and resilience.
Outside of radio, Jay and his wife—affectionately known as “The Boss”—are dedicated animal lovers. Together they’ve spent more than 25 years involved in showing Rottweilers in AKC Conformation and German-style Schutzhund competitions, as well as volunteering in all-breed dog and cat rescues.
Jay’s mission extends beyond the airwaves. Drawing on his own experiences with PTSD and trauma, he is committed to supporting others who have served and sacrificed. Through his work, Jay offers a voice of understanding, advocacy, and hope.
