Wiley is clear about what his story is not.

“There are no secret tips, nothing for sale, and absolutely nothing to buy,” he explains. “The whole point is accountability, for myself and sharing what’s actually working.”

For anyone who believes age automatically limits success, Wiley offers a simple challenge: “If I can do it at 67, you can too.”

The Moment Everything Changed

On January 2, 2025, Wiley stepped on the scale and reached a turning point.

“I weighed just under 261 pounds,” he recalls. “My eating had gone completely off the rails. I like to joke that I wasn’t just off track, I was a full train derailment.” His Honest Approach to Weight Loss at 67: I’ve Lost 63 Pounds in One Year.

Like many people, he had tried nearly every common approach over the years: intermittent fasting, pescatarian diets, calorie tracking, group weigh-ins, and even counseling.

“The programs weren’t the problem,” Wiley says. “I couldn’t maintain them long term.”

Finding a Diet He Could Stick With

The one approach that had consistently worked for Wiley in the past was keto. This time, he decided to go further.

“I knew I needed to be more drastic,” he says. “That’s when I started with a carnivore diet.”

For the first three months, Wiley followed a strict carnivore plan. After that, he slowly transitioned into a hybrid of carnivore and keto, eventually reintroducing vegetables while keeping carbohydrates low.

His year followed a simple progression:

Months 1–3: 100% carnivore, one cheat evening every six weeks
Months 3–6: 80% carnivore / 20% keto, one cheat evening every six weeks
Months 6–9: 70% carnivore / 30% keto, one cheat evening every six weeks
Months 9–Present: 60% carnivore / 40% keto, one cheat evening every six weeks

“There was no perfection,” Wiley says. “But there was consistency.”

Movement That Fits Real Life

Instead of intense workouts or complicated routines, Wiley chose something simple and sustainable: walking.

Those walks eventually became five sessions a day. The first and last walks grew longer over time, both in distance and pace. Today, those longer walks are about 2.2 miles each, totaling 4.4 miles. With the shorter walks included, Wiley averages about 5.6 miles per day.

The walks became more than exercise; they turned into mental space.

“I unplugged from everything during the long walks,” Wiley explains. “No phone, no distractions, just walking, prayer, meditation, and thinking.”

Adding Strength, Slowly

A few months ago, Wiley joined a gym and began light strength training. While he plans to share more about that experience later, he’s clear that muscle-building was never the main objective.

Wiley’s story isn’t about extremes or chasing a certain look. It’s about sustainability, honesty, and redefining what’s possible later in life.
