Police Officer Shot.
ROMEOVILLE, Ill. (WLS) -- A Romeoville police officer is recovering and a suspect is in custody after an intense search Thursday morning, police said.
Police arrested the 29-year-old suspect, who was out on parole, after an hours-long manhunt, police said.
Romeoville police said they spotted a stolen car in a neighborhood near Sierra Trail and Summerfield Drive. From ABC7.
When they went to investigate, the suspect returned to where the car was and police said he opened fire at officers, hitting one in the shoulder. He was quickly rushed to the hospital.
"The news we received earlier was positive," Romeoville Police Chief Ken Kroll said.

St. Johns County Florida Sheriff's Sergeant Dies After Altercation. (05/20/23 at 12:12pm)
Sergeant Michael Kunovich was called to investigate a person in St. Augustine. "In an online post, the sheriff’s office wrote Sgt. Kunovich was involved in an altercation, experienced medical distress and collapsed. He was pronounced dead at the hospital."
According to News4Jax, a suspect has been charged with murder.
