The Law Enforcement Today Radio Show and Podcast is committed to providing a platform for Law Enforcement Officers, First Responders, their families and victims of serious crimes to tell their stories. Real first hand accounts from their perspective and experience.
At the end of March 2019, the Law Enforcement Today Radio Show and Podcast turned 2 years old. We were so busy working on the show and all that goes with it that we didn’t mark the day at all.
At the time of this writing the Law Enforcement Today Radio show is syndicated on 95 AM-FM radio stations across the Country. The total population for those radio markets is in excess of 29 million people.
The podcast has grown to a whopping 460 plus episodes and is available on our website, on our free app, on Google Play, Itunes podcasts, Spotify, Tunein, Stitcher and most all major podcast apps and and streaming sites.
But, make no mistake this journey started a long time ago and still has a long way to go.
Law Enforcement Today Radio Show History.
The subject of a Law Enforcement Today style talk radio show was a vision I’ve had since about 2010. Around 2013, I met with the program director of WBAL and WIYY (98 Rock in Baltimore). We discussed the possibility of the show on the evenings on WBAL AM radio. Since I am retired from the Baltimore Police Department, it seemed like a perfect fit.
Both of us had expressed a desire to make this happen, but due to timing and distance it just wasn’t feasible. I was an afternoon drive radio personality at WMDM-FM in Mechanicsville Md. and didn’t get off the air until 7pm. WBAL wanted the show to start around 10pm, 2 or 3 nights a week. I had to pass, because it was about a 2 hour drive between both stations.
Fast forward to a couple years later, I was working as an afternoon drive music radio dj at WKYZ-FM in Key West Florida. I am still on air there in the mid days and on Sunday afternoons, (my on air name is Ripley).
I started to become aware of the great things that were being done at www.LawEnforcementToday.com and their social media pages. I was able to open up lines of communication with Robert Greenberg and then about a year later we actually scheduled a meeting. That lunch meeting was in early March 2017. During our meeting I explained to Robert what my vision was for the Law Enforcement Today Podcast, and within an hour he was all in.

Expanding To AM-FM Radio
In October of 2017 we received an inquiry from the first radio station asking if we could convert the podcast and make it available to interested radio stations.
The Law Enforcement Today Radio Show aired on the first radio station (WTHU-AM they have since changed their format) on November 3, 2017.
For the next several months, John J. “Jay” Wiley would scour the internet to locate and send an email with a description of the show and a demo to as many stations as possible across the Country.
AM-FM Radio Syndication
We entered into discussions with Genesis Communications Network in September of 2018 about syndicating and distributing the show. The syndication relationship started in October 2018. Since that time the number of radio stations broadcasting the Law Enforcement Today Radio Show has nearly doubled.
In the summer of 2019 we switched to Talk Media Network as our radio syndicator and our affiliates have grown to 95 stations and a combined broadcast population of more than 29 million people.
Onward and Upward
The Law Enforcement Today Radio Show and Podcast will continue to grow, because we won’t give up. Radio and Law Enforcement have been the host John J. “Jay” Wiley’s passion ever since he was a rookie police.

We owe it to our Law Enforcement Officers, their families, other first responders and crime victims to make sure they have a platform to tell their stories.
